HOW THE BICYCLING SPORTS STARTED

Europe has been the destination of cyclists and no wonder that this sport has been dominated by Europeans. Though the history of bicycles dates back earlier, the first event could only be held in the second half of the 19th century.  

In these early years, Bicycling sports started, races were usually performed on the shorter distances because the poor user-comfort and build materials did not allow drivers to drive fast for long periods of time. Constant technology advancements made the machine meaner and leaner.

This event led to the meteoric rise in such championships & bicycle racing became commonplace in  France and Italy, with more and more events trying to push the limits of the wooden and metal bicycles that by then still did not have rubber pneumatic tyres.

 

Many bicycle manufacturers started investing the designing a better machine that could be suited for sporting events.  This led to the developments of specially made tracks and velodromes that led to an increase in the popularity of cycles.

Bicycle racing became so popular that it was included in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens. In short, from James Moore of England to the current world Champion Mads of Denmark, the cycle has toured entire Earth but still, the champions are largely born in Europe.

 

Can India break this jinx for Asian countries?
